Gallery Wall WOWS!!

Michelle Havens

When you see a gallery wall done correctly, it is truly a showstopper! It can completely make a room dynamic! It's such a perfect way to really express yourself in your home. Whether it's photos taken from your favorite trip, art that speaks to you, pieces passed down from generations or even interesting artifacts that have personal meaning to you, there's no holding back when it comes to the cool factor you can create with a gallery wall.

Check out these gorgeous collected galleries below. Living spaces that are impactful and dramatic.

I fell in love with the collected baskets in a swoop on the wall in an awesome store called, Carousel and Folk, located in South Minneapolis. Fresh, light and happy! Note the two viewpoints of the same MCM sectional...YES, you can reinvent a room when you want to reFresh your space.

And don't feel limited to just your living room! Look at the drama in those stairwells! Me-OW! Check out the second image...The use of shelves, versus just hanging everything, adds a three-dimensional aspect that really stands out. Adding color as a backdrop to a gallery wall, really makes a happy statement.

Utilizing a common thread in a gallery wall, not only adds a modern fell but it creates a thoughtful and cohesive viewpoint. Check out the dining rooms below. Love the wall with the vintage plates!

Small walls and rooms really shine with a with their own collections! What a fun way to add style to a otherwise, simple space.

Tips to create your own gallery wall:

1. Keep it simple! Bring items you already own, into one space. Instead of scattering the family photos around the house, put them in similiar frame styles and create an ode to family in one impactful wall. Love to collect stamps, bugs, records? These items pulled together in one room on one wall will bring you so much pleasure, every time you see them.

2. Take risks! If you can add a hook or hanger to something that you love, hang it! Notice the tennis rackets, added to art, in one of the images. If you love it, add it to your wall. It'll add an interesting element, that will add to conversation with your guests. And it will honestly represent you.

3. Where do I begin? If you're worried about where to start in the hanging process, start by laying out items on the floor, so you can get a feel and flavor for the layout. I like to start with the item that is the "biggest" and build from there. "Biggest" is in quotes, because big can also mean how something might feel large. For example, the frame is three dimensional and protrudes from the wall, or there is bold color and the piece really stands or, or even that the pieces is void of any color, while everything has color...These are great focal point pieces.

4. Spacing is everything! Start in the middle and build out. For more impact, I generally keep the items tight to each other. And from there, I make sure all of the items have the same space apart, not only side to side, but top to bottom. And, yes, even I have to rehang something over. I don't panic. I just do it.

Have a blast and make those amazing walls!
